Arsenal managed to get a lucky draw against a well-organised Manchester United team at Old Trafford to hold onto third place in the league.

Speaking after the match, Arsene Wenger reiterated the importance of not allowing Man United to take that third spot, not just in terms of the table but also our team’s mentality.

“It was very important today not to let Manchester united get in front of us even if we have a game in hand but as well it was important for us mentally,” the boss said.

With a game in hand, it’s looking increasingly likely that the Gunners will finish third, with an outside chance at second if Manchester City slip up in one of their remaining games.

The match saw a determined Man United team eager to break us down and not allow us any room to pass or attack. For all intends and purposes they succeeded until the second half when we managed to clinch a lucky deflected goal from Theo Walcott to secure a point.

Although the performance was disappointing, forcing the Red Devils to drop points so they can’t move above us in the table was crucial.
