Although Arsenal displayed a lacklustre performance in the first half, without even having an attempt on the Man United goal, Arsene Wenger believes the second half was a different story.

Talking in his presser after the match at Old Trafford, the boss made it clear that although our first half performance left a lot to be desired, our quality in the second half improved.

“I think in the second half it was all us and we showed a good response,” he said. “In the second half I believe we have taken over and dominated and had the chances to win it.”

Indeed, in the first half Arsenal had no shots on target or otherwise – the first time this has happened in over 10 years. Man United did a superb job of shutting us out and not letting us play our usual passing style of football.

However, in the second half, especially after some vital substitutions and rearranging, we managed to break through. Aaron Ramsey in particular, who’d been isolated and stagnant on the wing for much of the game, was allowed to move centrally when winger Theo Walcott came on.

This move eventually led to our goal, which came courtesy of Walcott (and a bit of a lucky deflection).
