Arsenal’s Deyan Iliev has signed a new deal with the club.

The 20-year-old keeper, who signed for Arsenal in 2012, has made two appearances for the u21’s this season after a finger injury cut his 13/14 season short.

Another injury, picked up early into the season has restricted him again this term.

As the respected Jeorge Bird points out, the new deal for the young keeper offers perhaps more questions than it does answers.

With three keepers ahead of him in the pecking order at the club, the oldest of which is only 26, it’s hard to see him forcing his way past them all at this point.

The u21 Macedonia international has featured regularly for Arsenal before his injury problems but quite what the future holds for him beyond the youth team is hard to tell but, to put on a negative head for a second, at the very least Arsenal have protected their investment.
