Arsenal loanee Tommy Setford kept his first clean sheet for Stevenage over the weekend, as he continues to earn frequent starts for the League One side.

Tommy Setford made his fourth appearance for loan club Stevenage over the weekend, and he kept his first clean sheet with the side in a 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic.
Setford had been away with the England u21s over the international break, and he missed an EFL Trophy game as a result. Stevenage won 2-1 against the Leicester City u21s in the match, with Daniel Barden stepping in to play in goal.
But Barden evidently didn’t do enough to displace Setford from the starting lineup, and the Arsenal loanee was back between the sticks for the Wigan match on Saturday.

Setford only had to make one save in the match, but it was enough to earn him a clean sheet and his team the three points.
Things have really turned around for Stevenage since Setford’s arrival, at which point they set 20th in League One with just three points. A month and a half later, they’re ninth with a game in hand on many of the teams above them.
It’s too early to say whether Stevenage are in a promotion race at this stage. Aside from a 5-1 win over Barnsley, most of their results have been close games that could have gone either way. But the team certainly don’t seem to be fighting relegation anymore.

Regardless of Stevenage’s situation as a team, Setford will be pleased with his start. He’s only conceded three goals in his first four games, and he’s played every league minute he’s been available for.
Goalkeeper loans are notoriously difficult to get right, but this one certainly seems to be going well so far.
