Arsenal starter to miss 6-8 weeks with new injury

Arsenal fear that Bukayo Saka will miss a minimum of six weeks with his latest injury, and it could turn out to be even longer, according to a report.

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka was forced off with a quadriceps injury during his team’s draw with Bayern Munich earlier this week, and Mikel Arteta confirmed on Friday that the player would be undergoing a further MRI scan to assess the severity of the injury.

With the results of that scan not yet publicly known, Sami Mokbel reports for the BBC that Arsenal fear Saka could miss a minimum of six weeks, based on early examinations of the issue.

The same article suggests it will likely be eight weeks out for the winger, and that’s assuming the initial examinations are confirmed. If the latest MRI scan has revealed something that was previously missed, that could change the timeline.

At a bare minimum, the 6-8 week timeline from yesterday’s report means Saka will be out until December 4th, which would be just two days before the north London derby away to Tottenham Hotspur, and a few days before Real Madrid visit the Emirates Stadium.

Realistically, Saka will probably miss both of those games, and even the match against Manchester United on December 20th is in doubt.

Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze now look like nailed-on starters, at least until Christos Tzolis returns. Max Dowman may also have a bigger role to play in the coming weeks.
