David Raya has admitted he would like to play in Spain at some point in his career, although the Arsenal goalkeeper has made it clear he is happy in north London.

Raya, whose current contract runs until 2028, has spent his entire professional career in English football despite being a Spain international.

Asked by Marca whether he would like to experience La Liga, the 31-year-old was open about the appeal of playing in his home country.

“Yes, I would love to, I would love to try La Liga,” he said. “For now, I’m very happy here, but I would like to try the Spanish league.

“I think it’s a very competitive league. Maybe, in the future, I could play for a Spanish club. I’m Spanish and I would love to play there, that’s for sure.”

Raya has won three successive Premier League Golden Gloves and helped Arsenal win the league last season, establishing himself as a key part of the team.

Raya first arrived at Arsenal on loan from Brentford in 2023, having previously played for Blackburn Rovers.

He has made 158 appearances for Arsenal, just three fewer than he made for the Bees, but has 73 cleansheets in the red of Arsenal compared to 54 with Brentford.
