Mylo Bernard continued his strong early Arsenal form with another goal for the u18s on Saturday, as they eased past Aston Villa for three points.

Arsenal summer signing Mylo Bernard made his mark in his first start for the u18s last week, scoring a brace as the young Gunners came from behind to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1.
Bernard was named in the starting lineup against this weekend, and he played a part in a lightning fast start for Arsenal against Aston Villa.
Team captain Teshaun Murisa gave Arsenal the lead in the 7th minute, winning the ball on the edge of the area before converting for 1-0. Then fellow summer signing Axel Donczew scored in the 11th minute to double the team’s lead.

Arsenal really looked like running away with the game by the time Bernard scored in the 16th minute, beating the goalkeeper one-on-one after a through ball by Daniel McCarron.
But it was Villa who scored next, with Jake Doughty pulling one back in the 21st minute for 3-1.
Fortunately, Arsenal remained in control, and the Gunners were more likely to add to their lead than give it up in the second half. Murisa, Donczew, and Bernard all had chances to add to their first-half goals, but a miss and two good saves ensured the scoreline didn’t change.

Bernard now has three goals in three u18 Premier League matches with Arsenal, whilst Donczew has two goals and an assist in four.
Arsenal also signed Vincent Joseph from Liverpool over the summer, and the 16-year-old came on for his debut in the last half-hour against Villa.
All in all, it’s looking like the academy made some smart moves in the summer market, and they’re reaping the rewards now.
