Bayern Munich are expecting Luis Diaz to miss four-to-six weeks of action with a muscle injury picked up against Arsenal on Wednesday.

Prior to Arsenal’s match against Bayern Munich, former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz had picked up a knock during the German side’s emphatic win over RB Leipzig.
Though Diaz had starred in the Leipzig game with a hat-trick, he only completed the full 90 minutes because he was forced to, with Bayern already having made all their substitutions before he picked up his injury.
As a result, Diaz dropped to the bench against Arsenal, but he was brought on in the second half as Bayern looked to kill the game. The decision backfired, as the 29-year-old suffered a more serious injury setback and had to come off again.

Bayern have since officially confirmed that Diaz suffered a tear in his left hamstring. The club describe the problem as a ‘minor muscle fibre tear’, but add that Diaz will be out of action for the foreseeable future.
Florian Plettenberg (via GGFN) reports that Bayern are internally anticipating an absence of approximately four-to-six weeks.
In terms of the Champions League, that would rule Diaz out of Bayern’s trip away to Atletico Madrid, and potentially out of their following away game against Lille OSC.
Diaz should be back for Bayern’s final three games of the League Phase against Slavia Praha, Manchester United, and Real Betis.

The news is a blow to Bayern, and it raises the question of why Diaz was risked just days after being forced to play through an injury, in a game his team were already winning.
The answer is presumably that Vincent Kompany feared an Arsenal comeback, and he felt he needed Diaz to finish the Gunners off. Unfortunately for him, Diaz got injured and Arsenal made that comeback anyway.
