Arsenal will take part in the first FIFA Women’s Club World Cup after being named among the first seven clubs confirmed for the new competition.

The tournament will be held in the United States from 5 – 30 January, 2028, and will feature 19 clubs from all six confederations.

FIFA confirmed Arsenal’s place on 22 October 2026, with the competition set to be played every four years.

Arsenal qualified by winning the Women’s Champions League, with European champions from the seasons ending between 2024 and 2027 earning a place at the tournament.

The remaining UEFA spots will be decided by club rankings.

Alongside Arsenal, Barcelona, Club América, Gotham FC, Corinthians, Naegohyang Women’s FC and Wuhan Jiangda have also qualified.

That leaves 12 of the 19 places still to be filled.

Europe gets six spots, the biggest allocation of any confederation.

Asia, Africa, Concacaf and South America each get three, while Oceania gets one.

For UEFA, repeat Women’s Champions League winners will open up extra places through the rankings.

Normally, no more than two clubs from the same country can qualify, although there is an exception if more than two clubs from one country win the Champions League during the qualifying period.
