Arsenal 29yo very keen to return to England squad

Ben White is keen to return to the England squad next month, and he’s enjoying finally being able to share his minutes with Jurrien Timber.

For a long time at Arsenal, Ben White and Jurrien Timber alternated injury absences, with each of them forced to cover for the other. The fact they both picked up so many injuries was likely in part a result of the team’s reliance on their availability.

With the pair finally now both fit at once, White has admitted he expects the two of them to show their best form.

“It’s always been ‘you have to play, you have to play’,” White said (via The S*n). “Now, it’s a different moment. We can actually get some rest and you will see the best versions of each of us. It’s really nice to share the load with me and JT.”

With White getting regular minutes without being overworked into injury, he’s perhaps in a better position than ever to return to the England squad.

Reflecting on that possibility, the defender admitted he would be delighted to get another call-up from Thomas Tuchel.

“Yeah, definitely,” White said. “It is an amazing feeling playing for England. It’s like nothing else. If that does happen, I’ll be absolutely over the moon.”

Back at Arsenal, White hit a milestone over the weekend, playing his 200th match for the club. Once again, the 29-year-old revealed how happy that makes him.

“It’s amazing to play 200 games for this club. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” White insisted. “To come here and be here this long, and play that many games, is a really nice feeling.”

With everything going so well now, White can really look forward to the rest of the season. After that, with White’s contract expiring in 2028 and Arsenal having the option to extend to 2029, there will be a decision to make.
