The Premier League have confirmed their match officials for the upcoming round of fixtures, including Arsenal’s game against Leeds United.

The Premier League have officially announced their match official appointments for Matchweek 6, with Arsenal set to kick off the round with a game at home to Leeds United at 12:30 BST on Saturday, October 10th.
Paul Tierney will referee the match, assisted by Richard West and Steve Meredith, with Oliver Langford as the fourth official.
Tony Harrington will be on VAR, assisted by Nick Greenhalgh to complete the officiating team.

Arsenal’s record with Tierney as the referee is relatively underwhelming, winning 11 of their 23 matches, drawing six, and losing six. But things have been better more recently, with five of those 11 wins coming in his last six matches reffing the Gunners.
There have been a couple of errors by the officials in Tierney’s Arsenal matches, with Kai Havertz fortunate to avoid a red card for a foul against Burnley, and Gabriel Martinelli having a goal disallowed for a ‘foul’ by Martin Odegaard against Manchester United.
But in both cases Tierney was the on-field referee, and it was really the VAR official who should have given the decision another way.

With any luck, Harrington will do a better job of correcting any errors in this weekend’s fixture.
The referee has been on VAR for two previous Arsenal matches, and he did catch and overturn an incorrect offside call against Martinelli in a win over Everton. So that’s encouraging.
