Arsenal’s Mylo Bernard put in an impressive performance and scored for the England u17s against Germany on Sunday, but his team ultimately slipped to defeat.

Arsenal’s youth summer centre-forward signing Mylo Bernard made his debut for the England u17s earlier in the international break, helping them to a win over Israel.
Bernard had previously scored four and assisted two in just eight games for the England u16s last season.
But with no goal on his u17 debut, Bernard will be pleased he managed to get on the scoresheet in his second appearance against Germany on Sunday.

Bernard was immediately a threat in the Germany game, registering a shot within 30 seconds of kick-off. The hosts then took a 1-0 lead through Maroko Soldic, but England got back into the game from the penalty spot as Reggie Watson converted shortly after the half-hour mark.
Bernard looked the most likely to give England the lead after that, forcing a good save from the Germany goalkeeper.
The striker eventually got his goal in the second half, finishing from close range just after the hour mark to put England 2-1 up.

Unfortunately, Germany rallied, equalising less than 10 minutes later before netting a winning goal in the final seven minutes of the match. But Bernard can be proud of his performance in what was generally a positive break for the England u17s.
The team may have let the lead slip right at the end of their final game, but they won all three of their other matches over the break.
As for Bernard, the new Arsenal youngster will now return to his club hoping for his first start for the Gunners since joining from Crystal Palace.
