Former Gunner Leandro Trossard seemingly returned to the Emirates Stadium to watch Arsenal’s game against Chelsea, based on fan footage and pictures from Sunday’s match.
Former Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard left the club to join Besiktas this summer, but he seems to still have a strong connection with his old side.
Arsenal fans believed they’d spotted Trossard sitting in the box seats at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, watching on as they played against Chelsea.
Videos were shared by fans on social media, and pictures seemed to show the player sitting alongside Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber.
Trossard himself hasn’t shared any pictures or videos of his trip back to the Emirates Stadium on social media, but in a way, that only makes his apparent presence more endearing.
There’s no evidence this was a publicity stunt, Trossard seemingly just quietly turned up to watch his old teammates playing in a big game.
For further context, Trossard had been in action for Besiktas against Fenerbahce the previous day, providing an assist in a 2-1 win over their Super Lig rivals. He can’t have rested for long before catching a flight over to London.
Trossard did have the opportunity for a little rest between matches, with Besiktas not playing again until Friday, when they face Erzurumspor in another league game.
Besiktas are playing in the Europa League rather than the Champions League this season, so their next midweek fixture isn’t until Thursday, September 17th.
