Reiss Nelson has completed a free transfer move to Feyenoord after departing Arsenal via a mutual contract termination, according to a report.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Reiss Nelson is returning to Feyenoord as a free agent, with the deal now done after successful medical tests on Wednesday morning.
Nelson had previously played for Feyenoord as a loanee in the 2021/22 season, before returning to Arsenal for a couple of years and then making further loan exits to Fulham and Brentford.
The Gunners then confirmed last month that Nelson had terminated his contract with immediate effect, to become a free agent.
There had been earlier talk of a move to West Ham United for a fee of around £3m, but West Ham had been stalling on the deal while they explored other opportunities, and there was no guarantee they were going to go ahead with it.
Arsenal’s contract termination allowed Nelson a bit more time and freedom to assess his options, and he’s now agreed a return to his old loan club.
Arsenal won’t get a transfer fee for Nelson, despite the fact his previous contract was supposed to last until 2028, but the Gunners were able to offload his wages at least.
Nelson made 90 appearances for the Arsenal senior side, having broken through from the club’s youth teams. He won the FA Cup and two Community Shields with the Gunners.
