Arsenal boost as injured star returns to full training pre-Napoli

Arsenal’s pre-Napoli training session has revealed some positive injury news, with Jurrien Timber fully involved with the squad.

Arsenal held an open training session on Tuesday ahead of their midweek Champions League game away to Napoli, and the good news relayed by those watching on is that Jurrien Timber was fully involved.

Timber has been training individually for a while now, ever since his latest injury setback and rehabilitation, but he’s now in a position to take part in full training and potentially make his on-field comeback.

In another positive sign, Bruno Guimaraes was involved as he continues to step up his fitness after a couple of early knocks with Arsenal. The midfielder made the bench against Chelsea, and it seems he’ll be in the squad again for the Napoli match.

One player who remains absent is Cristhian Mosquera. Unlike Guimaraes, Mosquera wasn’t fit enough to make the bench on Sunday, though Mikel Arteta suggested it wasn’t a big issue.

“He had a muscular issue, and we think it’s not too much,” Arteta said on Sunday. “But we need to wait and see the next few days for how it evolves.”

There was never much expectation the defender would be facing Napoli three days later, but his absence from training likely confirms he won’t be involved in the Gunners’ Champions League opener.

The only other confirmed injury absentee against Napoli is William Saliba, with the French international still a long way from being fit to return to match action.

It doesn’t seem as though there are any new injury problems after the weekend, though Arteta should provide more of an update in his pre-Napoli press conference.
