Eli Junior Kroupi and Kevin Schade are names to monitor ahead of Arsenal’s January transfer window, according to a report.
Tom Canton reports for Football.London that AFC Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi and Brentford’s Kevin Schade are both names to monitor from an Arsenal perspective ahead of the January transfer window, particularly with Schade starting the season so strongly.
Canton adds that further names could emerge throughout the season, but suggests that it’s more common for clubs to look within the Premier League for January signings, given the lack of an adaptation period mid-season.
Kroupi was one of the big names circulating during the summer transfer window, but the rumours dried up when he suffered a serious foot injury during his pre-season preparations.
The striker ultimately had to undergo surgery, and he was expected to miss three-to-four months of action. The current expectation is that he’ll be back around the start of November.
The 20-year-old’s 13 goals in his debut season in the Premier League certainly make him a hot prospect, and if he returns from injury just as impressively, he could well be the subject of January interest.
Meanwhile, left-winger Schade has scored three goals in six appearances in Brentford’s unbeaten start to the new season.
Left-wing is perhaps the more obvious area for an Arsenal addition, given the three sales (Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Reiss Nelson) and only one signing (Christos Tzolis) over the summer. But there’s also a sense the Gunners are holding off for a true superstar.
The next couple of months of football are likely to determine whether that’s a realistic hope, or whether the club really just need a good addition of any kind in January.
