Arsenal confirm Premier League & Champions League squad lists

Arsenal have submitted their Premier League and Champions League squads, with no major exclusions and Ethan Nwaneri named on the Premier League list.

Both the Premier League and the Champions League have confirmed Arsenal’s squads for their respective competitions, with no major surprises between the two lists.

The same players have been included in both squads, with Arsenal naming 22 players from a possible 25.

The Gunners have no issues with the homegrown quota, with eight homegrown players – Eberechi Eze, Ezri Konsa, Noni Madueke, David Raya, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Declan Rice, and Ben White. Saliba has been included despite his current injury.

UEFA and the Premier League allow 17 non-homegrown players, so you want to have at least eight homegrown players to allow you to fill the remainder of your squad list.

Only two of those homegrown players are club-trained (Saka and Saliba), which does create a small issue in UEFA competition.

Each club must have four club-trained players or lose the spot, so Arsenal’s maximum in UEFA competitions would be 23 players as it stands. Not that it matters, as Arsenal only have 22 senior players to include.

Arsenal do have plenty of other club-trained players, including the likes of Max Dowman, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Marli Salmon. But they’re all currently young enough to remain on the B List in Europe, or the u21 list in the Premier League. None of them need to be named as senior players.

Arsenal have also included Ethan Nwaneri in their Premier League u21 list, with no downside to adding the player despite his loan to Borussia Dortmund. There’s no limit on the number of u21s you can name.

The one player who has been left out is 22-year-old goalkeeper Remy Mitchell, who isn’t eligible for the u21 list. Arsenal have clearly opted against including him in the senior list, given there’s no real likelihood he’d be selected.
