Arsenal are set to wear an all-red kit on Wednesday night against Napoli, ditching the usual white shorts with the red shirt for the first time since 2022.
Arsenal’s home kit typically includes a red-and-white shirt, white shorts, and red or white socks, and the 2026/27 campaign is no exception to that.
But whilst Arsenal will wear their home shirt in Wednesday night’s Champions League opener against Napoli, they won’t wear their usual home shorts.
That’s according to Arsenal Shirt Collection, who report that for the first time since 2022, Arsenal will be wearing all red.
UEFA are stricter about kit clashes than other competition organisers, and Napoli’s home kit uses white shorts as well. As a result, Arsenal have had to swap to red for the away game.
As mentioned, this isn’t the first time this has happened, with Arsenal wearing all red for a match against Watford in 2022.
In fact, Arsenal also wore all red in a previous match against Napoli in 2019, when Alexandre Lacazette scored to send the Gunners to the Europa League semi-finals.
Prior to those two fixtures, Arsenal had also worn all red in a match against West Bromwich Albion in 2017. Across those three games, Arsenal won two and drew one, so they’ll want to keep that positive record going in Wednesday’s fixture.
