Arsenal’s next generation of talent will test themselves against some of Europe’s leading academies this week as the club’s Under-17 women’s side heads to Shanghai for an inaugural international tournament.
Arsenal’s Under-17 women’s side are taking part in the first women’s edition of the Shanghai Future Star Cup, which runs from 16 to 22 August in Shanghai.
The competition offers Arsenal’s young players the chance to measure themselves against elite opposition before the domestic season begins, following the club’s successful involvement in the men’s event earlier this month.
You can watch their game on Monday live here with a kick-off time of 12.35pm (UK)
The tournament is an international Under-17 academy competition staged at the Yuanshen Sports Center and the Jiushi Kangqiao Sports Base.
Arsenal are one of six invited European academies, joining Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Sociedad and Paris FC, with China Under-17 completing the field.
The trip follows the club’s recent success in the men’s Shanghai Future Star Cup.
Earlier this month, Arsenal’s Under-17 boys reached the final before being declared joint champions alongside China Under-17 after the showpiece was cancelled because of Typhoon Dolphin.
While that tournament ended in unusual circumstances, Arsenal’s young women’s side now have the opportunity to write their own story as the competition gets under way in Shanghai.
