Las Palmas are working on a loan move for young Arsenal goalkeeper Tommy Setford, according to a report.

Sam Dean of The Telegraph reports that Las Palmas are interested in Arsenal goalkeeper Tommy Setford this summer, pursuing a loan deal for the 20-year-old. Dean adds that the clubs are now working on a deal.
Setford is yet to appear for Arsenal during pre-season, with Illan Meslier arriving to add a third senior goalkeeper to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Setford has been in training with the team and he was with them for last week’s friendly match against Girona, but he wasn’t named in the squad for any of the pre-season games so far.

When Meslier was signed, the suggestion was that his arrival was to facilitate a loan move for Setford. The young goalkeeper worked hard alongside David Raya and Kepa Arrizabalaga in training last year, but his opportunities on the pitch were slim to non-existent.
Setford came on as a substitute for Arsenal against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup, playing the final few minutes of the 4-0 win. Other than that, his appearances were limited for a handful of u21 showings for Arsenal and England.
The goalkeeper was signed for his potential, but he’s unlikely to achieve it if he can’t get out on the pitch and test himself.

Enter Las Palmas, who play in the Spanish second tier and are seemingly offering him that opportunity to feature regularly.
Las Palmas’ goalkeeper Dinko Horkas is the subject of interest from Scottish club Celtic, though a deal is still yet to be agreed. Should Celtic succeed in their pursuit of Horkas, that would open the door wider for Setford’s loan transfer.
