Former Arsenal midfielder joins QPR

Former Arsenal midfielder Glen Kamara has joined Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan deal, returning for his third spell in English football.

QPR have announced the signing of Glen Kamara on a season-long loan deal from the player’s parent club Rennes, with reports from elsewhere suggesting there’s an option to buy in the contract.

Championship club QPR haven’t confirmed the option to buy, but the club are definitely guaranteed at least a year with the former Arsenal youngster.

“Obviously being from West London myself, I’m just delighted to get it done,” Kamara told the club website. “It’s a division I’ve played in, a division I know.

“Unfortunately [Leeds] didn’t make it to the Prem that season, but hopefully I can help QPR do that, and we can push for promotion.”

Kamara joined Arsenal’s academy system in 2012, going on to make his senior debut in 2015, but that turned out to be his only first-team appearance before his permanent exit in 2017.

Nine years later, Kamara has played for Dundee, Rangers, Leeds United, Rennes, and on loan with Al Shabab in Saudi Arabia, before making his current loan move to QPR.

The 30-year-old spent last season back with Rennes, but struggled for minutes, hence the decision to go out on loan once again.

The midfielder actually had a run-in with another Arsenal academy product in Ethan Nwaneri whilst the two were both in France.

A tough challenge from Nwaneri left Kamara on the sidelines for four games with an ankle injury, with then-Rennes boss Habib Beye criticising the Arsenal loanee for the tackle.

Unfortunately, Beye then took over as Marseille’s new manager, perhaps setting the scene for Nwaneri’s limited minutes in the remainder of 2025/26.

Kamara and Nwaneri will both be hoping for more regular football this season.
