Arsenal youngster Louie Copley has confirmed he’s had successful surgery on his ACL injury, beginning a long road back to full fitness for the midfielder.

Earlier this month, Arsenal midfielder Louie Copley confirmed in an Instagram post that he’d ruptured his ACL.
“Words can’t describe how I’m feeling right now, to making my pre season debut for the team I’ve grown up supporting to finding out I’ve ruptured my ACL,” Copley wrote.
“The road ahead won’t be easy but I’ll give everything to come back stronger and better.”

Copley has now provided another update to confirm he’s had surgery on the problem, posting on his story that the procedure was successful.
The 19-year-old suffered the injury after coming on as a half-time substitute in Arsenal’s friendly match against Real Betis, and there was immediate concern that the problem was serious.
“It doesn’t look good, the mechanism is not too positive, the symptoms that he already has either,” Arteta said in the immediate aftermath.
Medical staff run certain physical tests after a knee injury, which can provide a strong indication of whether the problem is an ACL issue or not. Scans are required to confirm the diagnosis, but Arsenal would have known immediately that there was a strong chance of a rupture.

Copley has been making good progress through the ranks in the last 12 months, but he’s also been in a bit of an injury nightmare.
The midfielder has gone from captaining the Arsenal u21s, to going on loan to Crawley Town, to playing for Arsenal’s senior side in pre-season. But along the way he’s had four separate injury setbacks and then this ACL tear.
There’s nothing the youngster can do now but work hard to ensure he can pick up where he left off when he’s fit again.
