Arsenal new signing could face Como in Wednesday friendly

Bruno Guimaraes could be involved for Arsenal in Wednesday’s friendly against Como 1907, having taken part in some training sessions last week.

Ryan Taylor reports that there’s a decent chance that Bruno Guimaraes will be involved for Arsenal against Como 1907 in Wednesday’s Emirates Stadium friendly match.

Guimaraes reportedly did individual training with Arsenal’s fitness coaches last week, and he was then spotted taking part in a light team session on the Emirates pitch after the Borussia Dortmund match on Sunday.

As a result, perhaps the most likely outcome is that Guimaraes follows in the footsteps of Arsenal’s other late returners by playing 30 minutes on Wednesday to prepare him a possible start in the following game.

Of course, in this case, the following game is the Community Shield match against Manchester City. And that will be followed by the Premier League opener against Coventry City.

Arsenal have a very tight turnaround to get their England and Spain World Cup internationals ready in time for those games, with those players only returning to training on Saturday or Monday – depending on the player.

The good news is that everyone should now be in team training except William Saliba and Jurrien Timber. Timber is training individually as he edges closer to his injury comeback, whilst Saliba is currently in a period of complete rest to allow his back injury to settle.

Arsenal will likely need Cristhian Mosquera and Ben White to step into the team this month, but the rest of the side should be full strength, if a little out of recent practice.
