Besiktas close in on personal terms agreement with Arsenal forward

Besiktas are yet to submit an official offer to Arsenal for Leandro Trossard, but the player is considering accepting their proposal for his personal terms.

Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reports that whilst Besiktas have made an offer to Leandro Trossard’s camp, they’re yet to formalise that offer with a bid to Arsenal.

Sabuncuoglu adds that Trossard has been offered a salary close to his demands, and if an agreement can be reached on the contract’s durection, the player would consider accepting the terms.

Ryan Taylor reported for the Mirror this week that Trossard will decide his future after the World Cup, but there’s an acceptance that Arsenal’s pursuit of a new winger or two could mean a transfer exit for the Belgian international.

Taylor confirmed that Besiktas are keen on the signing, making Trossard one of their top summer targets, and they’ve already made a verbal offer worth up to €20m (£17.2m). Saudi Pro League side Al-Diriyah are reportedly also interested.

As for Arsenal’s stance on Besiktas’ unofficial offer, Taylor reports that £17.2m is indeed the kind of figure the club would consider financially acceptable.

Trossard’s age is obviously the main reason why Arsenal wouldn’t be able to get even more for him, as he’s now 31 and turns 32 at the end of this year, with a year left on his contract.

The forward would reportedly be keen to see out the final year of that contract, but he’s also being realistic, and knows Arsenal additions on the wings could ultimately mean a transfer away from the club.
