Real Madrid don’t want to sell Vinicius Junior this summer, though there’s still no suggestion he’s agreed to sign a new contract with the club.

Sky Sports News reported on Tuesday night that they’ve been told Vinicius Junior will be remaining at Real Madrid beyond this summer, with the La Liga club not planning to sell and confident he will agree a new contract.
Jose Mourinho reportedly values Vinicius highly, and wants him to stay, with further contract talks to take place this week.
But Sky confirm that Arsenal will continue to keep an eye on the situation, given Vinicius hasn’t signed that new contract yet.

Notably, there’s nothing in Sky’s report confirming or even implying what Vinicius himself thinks about all this. The best they can do is highlight that there’s no public evidence that the player wants to leave.
So if the report is genuine, it’s clearly been sourced from Real Madrid’s side. That leaves open the possibility that the player might turn down a contract extension and force his club to reassess the situation.
As we know, Vinicius has less than a year left on his contract with Real Madrid. If he doesn’t extend and isn’t sold, he could leave for free next summer.

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a bid for Vinicius, who is viewed internally as the club’s top summer target. But they’re aware that a deal would cost a minimum of £130m and involve utterly smashing Arsenal’s record for player wages, if Real Madrid and Vinicius will even consider the transfer.
One advantage that Arsenal have is on image rights, with the Gunners offering players very generous image rights deals in the past. That’s not the case at Real Madrid, so it’s one area where Arsenal have the greater financial incentive.
Vinicius is widely considered one of the world’s best wingers, and he had another strong season in 2025/26, scoring 22 goals for Real Madrid and assisting another 14.
