Arsenal’s Brazilian World Cup duo Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli are set to link up with their Gunners teammates this week, despite not being on the first plane to Girona.

Matt Verri reports for The Standard that Arsenal duo Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli will both return to training this week, ahead of the Gunners first public pre-season friendly against Girona.
Neither of the two Brazilian internationals were on the club flight to Spain over the weekend, as they’re still on their holidays following the World Cup.
Players get at least three weeks of holiday in the summer, and at the time of Sunday’s flight it hadn’t quite been the full 21 days. Verri reports that the decision was made that the Gabriels didn’t need to return in time to fly out with their teammates.

But the report adds that the duo will join up with the squad later this week, prior to Arsenal’s first friendly in front of fans against Girona on Saturday.
Their fitness will then be assessed, but it’s reportedly unlikely either player will have a significant role in this weekend’s friendly.
Even so, a return this week would give them both plenty of time to get up to speed with their teammates long in advance of the Community Shield match on August 16th, let alone the return of the Premier League on August 21st.
In case you missed it, below is the rest of Arsenal’s squad list so far.
