Arsenal have followed Como defender Jacobo Ramon’s progress closely, but Real Madrid could disrupt any attempt to sign the centre-back.

James McNicholas reports for The Athletic that Como 1907 centre-back Jacobo Ramon is on Arsenal’s summer shortlist, and the club have closely followed the 21-year-old’s progress in Serie A in 2026/27.
McNicholas isn’t the first to link the Gunners with Ramon, with Sami Mokbel of the BBC recently reporting that the Spaniard is on a list of defenders Arsenal would like to bring in.
But both journalists agree the deal is complicated by clauses in Ramon’s contract, due to his previous association with Real Madrid.

McNicholas reports that Real Madrid still own 50% of Ramon’s economic rights, and they’ve also inserted buyback clauses for the player. On top of that, Chelsea are interested.
So if Arsenal wish to move forward with a deal, they don’t just have to convince the player and his current club. A club he joined less than a year ago, who are about to play in the Champions League.
On top of that, the Gunners also have to hope Real Madrid don’t activate their buyback clause, and that Chelsea don’t try to outbid them.

Ramon certainly has a strong CV, with that time spent developing at Real Madrid, then 37 appearances last season to help Como reach the Champions League for the first time ever.
It makes sense that Arsenal would be interested in a player already performing at a high level at the age of 21, in a position where the Gunners have recently been hit by an injury to William Saliba.
But very much in keeping with the pattern of this summer transfer window so far, it’s not going to be an easy deal to do.
