Swedish club AIK are looking to sign Charles Sagoe Jr. from Arsenal on a permanent deal this summer, despite the player’s current loan deal with Kalmar FF.

Anel Avdic reports for Swedish outlet Expressen that AIK are working hard to try and sign Charles Sagoe Jr. from Arsenal this summer, with talks already underway over the potential transfer.
Sagoe Jr. is currently on loan with fellow Allsvenskan side Kalmar FF, on a deal that lasts until the end of the calendar year.
But AIK are pushing for the transfer anyway, with Expressen sources claiming it’s not impossible to get the winger out of his loan deal this summer.

Sagoe Jr. recently returned to competitive action with Kalmar by assisting their first and second goals in a 3-0 league win over Orgryte. The 21-year-old Arsenal loanee now has two goals and seven assists in his first 14 competitive games for Kalmar.
Arsenal will likely be very receptive to AIK’s interest, given Sagoe Jr.’s deal with the Gunners expires in 2027. Selling now would probably be preferable to waiting until the end of his loan and the final six months of his contract.
But there may be a cost associated with ending the loan spell early, and Arsenal would presumably want AIK to cover it. Kalmar won’t be looking to do a domestic rival any favours, especially if it means losing a player performing well for them.

Whether the AIK move goes through or not, this has been a remarkable turnaround for Sagoe Jr. in the last 12 months.
Last summer, the winger was coming off the back of a couple of underwhelming loan moves, and he was forced to reintegrate with the Arsenal u21s. But he got his head down and worked hard, scoring or assisting 12 goals in 14 u21 games in the first half of 2025/26.
That form saw him earn his current move to Sweden, and his positive performances on loan may now get him a new permanent deal.
