Midtjylland director confirms Arsenal have scouted 22yo winger

Arsenal have spent time scouting Dario Osorio of FC Midtjylland, according to the club’s technical director, though the Gunners’ title win may affect their pursuit.

FC Midtjylland technical director Kristian Kjaer spoke to the media this week on a number of topics, including 22-year-old Midtjylland winger Dario Osorio.

Kjaer claims Arsenal are one of the clubs keeping an eye on the player, and he believes the Premier League would be good fit for someone of Osorio’s talents.

“We know that Arsenal have been looking into Osorio, but we also know other clubs in the Premier League have done the same,” Kjaer said.

“I also think it is well known that Bournemouth looked into him historically. There are other clubs in the Premier League also looking into him.

“In my opinion, he serves the Premier League very, very good because he has a hard-working mentality. His defensive transition runs are amazing, his top speed is amazing. Left-footed right winger can go to the right and to the left of his direct opponent.

“He has the full package, seen as the next Alexis Sanchez in Chile.”

Yet Kjaer also admitted that Arsenal’s Premier League success might alter their priorities ahead of the summer transfer window.

“I think that might also rock their boat a bit and [it becomes a case of] ‘see how we can keep this position for next season’,” Kjaer suggested. “I don’t know. We will see where it all ends up.”

It’s definitely possible the Gunners will view this summer as an opportunity to cement their position on top, rather than building something for the long term. Bringing in a young winger with no experience in Europe’s top-five leagues is probably more of an example of the latter.

Even so, Osorio has been performing well in Denmark, scoring eight goals and assisting 10 this season. He’s also made 25 appearances for Chile since his debut in 2022.

It does seem like a matter of time before he ends up earning himself a move, it just might not be to Arsenal anymore.
