Brentford are trying to hijack Arsenal’s deal to sign Jeremy Monga from Leicester City, though the Gunners themselves appear to be close to completing the signing.

Paul Joyce and Gary Jacob report for The Times that Brentford will look to rival Arsenal in the race to sign Jeremy Monga from Leicester City this summer.
The report claims Monga is a priority target for Arsenal, but Brentford have stepped up their interest and hope to lure the winger away with the promise of more guaranteed playing time.
Brentford are now expected to make formal contact with Leicester over the winger, though Arsenal are reportedly able to pay the bigger fee.

Elsewhere, other sources still have Arsenal as the favourites to complete the signing.
Alex Crook reports for talkSPORT that Monga will leave Leicester this summer, with up to 10 clubs interested in him, but Crook adds that Arsenal very close to agreeing a deal with the winger’s club for a fee of around £10m.
Previous reports had suggested that Monga had already agreed personal terms with Arsenal, and given his preference to the Gunners over multiple other clubs including Manchester City and Bayer Leverkusen.
Those claims suggested Arsenal could potentially look to loan Monga out after getting him settled in north London.

Perhaps that’s now Arsenal’s best option to convince Monga to finalise the deal and put pen to paper. If their financial offer to Leicester is acceptable, and they’ve got a broad agreement on personal terms with the player, the only thing left is to give him that guarantee on minutes.
Arsenal might not be able to promise Monga minutes in Mikel Arteta’s first team next season, but a good loan would still get him that playing time.
Monga made 10 starts for Leicester in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and assisting two more. He’s also an England u19 international, making 10 appearances for the side this season and playing alongside Dowman on a couple of occasions.
