Arsenal open to offers for 3-5 first-team players

Arsenal are open to offers for at least three members of their first-team squad this summer, though there’s a little uncertainty in the cases of Ben White and Ethan Nwaneri.

Sami Mokbel reports for the BBC that Arsenal are set to listen to offers for Christian Norgaard, Fabio Vieira, and Reiss Nelson this summer, and James McNicholas confirms for The Athletic that those three could leave in the upcoming window.

Both the BBC and The Athletic suggest that Ethan Nwaneri’s situation is also unclear, with the BBC writing that Arsenal are giving serious consideration to the sale of a former academy player, and The Athletic suggesting Nwaneri “could be considered as a potential sale”.

It doesn’t seem as though Arsenal have quite opened the door to Nwaneri’s departure as much as some of the others listed, but perhaps they’d consider a significant offer.

Where the two reports differ is on Ben White, with the BBC reporting that Arsenal will listen to offers, whilst The Athletic claim that despite considerable speculation, there is no clear decision on the right-back’s future just yet.

White’s future may end up being influenced by his current injury, as buying clubs will probably want to see him returning to fitness before firming up their interest.

But given we’re already now almost in the summer window, that could delay White’s exit for long enough that Arsenal decide not to sell at all.

The 28-year-old still has a contract until 2028, with reports suggesting he also has an option to extend to 2029. He’s not close to the end of his deal, and Arsenal will probably only consider a sale if they think they can use the money on an adequate replacement.

It’s not really the same in the cases of players like Norgaard, Vieira, and Nelson, who had little or no place in the Arsenal lineup this season. Vieira and Nelson obviously spent the year away on their loans, whilst Norgaard was a regular squad member but an infrequent starter.

All three could probably leave without Arsenal necessarily having to line up a replacement first.
