Arsenal face decisions on five squad futures

Arsenal are open to letting as many as five first-team players leave this summer, although the situations around Ben White and Ethan Nwaneri are less clear than those of Christian Norgaard, Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson.

The club are expected to listen to offers for Norgaard, Vieira and Nelson, with both BBC Sport and The Athletic reporting that the trio could leave in the coming window. All three had limited involvement in Arsenal’s title-winning season, although for different reasons.

Vieira and Nelson spent the campaign away from the club on loan, while Norgaard remained in the squad but was an infrequent starter. Their departures would not necessarily require Arsenal to have replacements lined up before doing business, with none of the three central to Mikel Arteta’s regular starting plans.

Sami Mokbel reports for the BBC that Arsenal are set to listen to offers for Norgaard, Vieira and Nelson. James McNicholas, writing for The Athletic, also confirms that those three players could leave this summer.

The more complicated cases are Nwaneri and White.

Both the BBC and The Athletic suggest there is some uncertainty around Nwaneri. The BBC says Arsenal are giving serious consideration to the sale of a former academy player, while The Athletic reports that Nwaneri “could be considered as a potential sale” as Arsenal are installed as favourites with laser247 com to win the title again.

That does not mean Arsenal have pushed the door open as far as they appear to have done with Norgaard, Vieira and Nelson. Nwaneri’s academy background, age and potential make his case different, and it is more likely that Arsenal would need a significant offer before seriously considering a sale.

White’s situation is also unresolved, with the two reports differing on how firm Arsenal’s position is. The BBC reports that Arsenal will listen to offers for the right-back, while The Athletic says that, despite considerable speculation, there is no clear decision on his future yet.

His current injury may also shape what happens next. Any interested club would probably want to see White return to fitness before firming up its position, and the timing matters. With the summer window almost here, any delay could push a potential move far enough back for Arsenal to decide against selling.

White, 28, is not close to the end of his contract. His current deal runs until 2028, with reports suggesting there is also an option to extend it to 2029. That gives Arsenal control and means a sale would only make sense if the club believed the money could be used to secure an adequate replacement.

The picture, then, is not one of a clear-out for its own sake. Arsenal are open to offers for players on the edge of the squad, while also weighing up more sensitive decisions around players whose value, contract status or long-term potential make their futures less straightforward.

Norgaard, Vieira and Nelson are the likeliest exits because their roles can be replaced internally or managed without immediate upheaval. Nwaneri would represent a bigger call, and White’s future may depend as much on his fitness as on market interest.
