Arsenal have held internal talks over £60m player

David Ornstein has confirmed that Arsenal have held internal talks over a potential move for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, amid suggestions he would cost £60m.

David Ornstein told The Athletic FC podcast this week that Bournemouth’s Alex Scott has been discussed at Arsenal and Manchester United ahead of this summer, though the south coast club don’t want to sell him.

The issue for Bournemouth is that Scott’s contract is running down, and whilst his current club would be keen to extend it, the player may not be so keen if he thinks he can get a transfer elsewhere.

Mike Keegan reports for the Daily Mail that if Bournemouth do make Scott available, he’d cost around £60m.

Alex Crook had reported for talkSPORT last week that Arsenal were the latest club contemplating a possible move for Scott, with the expectation that the deal wouldn’t come cheaply.

Crook also claimed that Scott is currently in contract talks with Bournemouth, with a new deal containing a release clause perhaps the most likely outcome.

And James Ducker reported for The Telegraph that whilst Bournemouth are keen to keep Scott, they might change their stance if he refused to extend his deal beyond 2028.

The midfielder played 39 times for Bournemouth in all competitions this season, helping them to qualify for the Europa League in 2026/27.

Bournemouth went on an 18-game Premier League unbeaten run to close out the campaign, notably winning Arsenal the league with their draw against Manchester City. Scott also scored against the Gunners in Bournemouth’s win at the Emirates Stadium in April.

It’s little surprise the top clubs are circling for Bournemouth’s best players, and this could be one to watch as the summer progresses.
