Former Arsenal player Jorginho has admitted his regret at the misunderstanding with American singer Chappell Roan, posting online to clarify the situation.

Former Arsenal midfielder Jorginho recently made a very public complaint about music artist Chappell Roan, suggesting a member of the singer’s security team had left his daughter in tears during a hotel breakfast.
But the footballer has now backtracked, admitting the security guard wasn’t working for Chappell Roan after all.
“I have become aware of new information that has changed my understanding of parts of what happened,” Jorginho wrote on Instagram.

“Chappell Roan made a public statement, reached out privately to Catherine, and our teams also spoke directly. It became clear that she had no knowledge of what took place at breakfast and had not asked anyone to approach them.
“She was understanding and sympathetic to what had happened to our child. The security guard himself has since confirmed publicly that he was representing another artist at the hotel at the time.
“It was, ultimately, a misunderstanding in that respect, and l am glad to set the record straight. It’s important to me that this is clarified fairly and accurately. I regret the impact this situation has had on Chappell Roan, Catherine, Ada, and our family.
“I will always stand up for my family. But I also know how to recognize when things were not quite what they seemed at first.”

The artist had responded to the claims on her own Instagram page at the time, confirming that the security guard was “not my personal security”.
“I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. They weren’t doing anything,” Roan said.
“It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe, because there’s no action even taken.
“I’m sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, [assuming] that you would do something. If you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.”
Jorginho’s wife admitted at the time that she didn’t know for sure that the security guard worked for Chappell Roan, only that he definitely wasn’t employed by the hotel.
In the end, it seems the security guard was acting on behalf of someone else, and it was all a misunderstanding.
Though perhaps it’s fair to suggest that given the significant backlash towards Roan following Jorginho’s initial post, his clarification post is perhaps lacking a more obvious apology for inciting it.
