Injured Arsenal star returns to training ahead of schedule

Eberechi Eze has returned to training with Arsenal, suggesting his injury isn’t quite as serious as previously feared.

Arsenal shared a live stream of the start of their training session on Thursday, with footage available to watch on the club’s official app, and the big news from the stream was that Eberechi Eze was involved with the team.

In the immediate aftermath of the League Cup final, reports on Eze’s injury suggested he could miss four-to-six weeks, potentially ruling him out for the entirety of April and potential even a game or two in May.

Yet further updates hinted we could be back in time to face Manchester City on April 19th, and now it looks like he could even be in the squad against Bournemouth this weekend.

That would be a big boost for Arsenal, with Eze recently having won the club’s Player of the Month award for March. It would be significant to have him back for some key Premier League ties this month, as well as the Champions League quarter-final second leg next week.

On the other hand, there was no sign of Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, Martin Odegaard, Piero Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori, or Mikel Merino.

That doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t fit, as they may have simply had this session off, or they might have joined it late, after the stream ended. But given all of them were injury doubts prior to the live stream, it’s not a particularly good sign.

Mikel Arteta should provide further updates on all of Arsenal’s injury doubts in his pre-match press conference, with the Gunners kicking off against Bournemouth on Saturday at 12:30 BST.
