There is barely anything to separate Arsenal and Manchester City as the Premier League title race reaches its dramatic conclusion. The Gunners have just four games remaining in 2025/26, but could be reliant on other teams in their bid to claim silverware.
While Mikel Arteta’s side currently holds a three-point advantage over Man City, Pep Guardiola’s team has a game in hand on its rivals. Provided they win that and then match Arsenal’s results until the end of the season, the Sky Blues will be champions.
It’s shaping up to be a nail-biting finish. Arsenal are currently the slight favourites, and supporters in South Africa can keep abreast of the latest football news & betting tips as the season approaches its climax – something that all Gunners around the world will also be doing.
But who out of Arsenal or Man City has an easier route to the finish line? A closer look at both teams’ remaining fixtures gives a better indicator of where teams might slip up.
Arsenal have favourable matches against bottom half teams left
On paper, Arsenal will think that a maximum 12 points is more than possible. Arteta’s men play Fulham in their next match on Saturday, May 2, which could be a tough fixture against a team with aspirations of qualifying for European football. But Marco Silva’s side has been out of form lately, winning just two of its last seven.
After that, Arsenal then don’t play a team in the top half of the table for the rest of the season. West Ham on Saturday, May 10 could be a tricky game as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side look to avoid relegation, but the north Londoners should have too much quality for that Hammers team.
Burnley’s Championship status has already been confirmed for next season. The Clarets have nothing but pride to play for in their remaining four games, which should mean that they arrive at the Emirates on Sunday, May 17 demoralised, therefore making Arsenal’s job that day slightly easier.
Closing the season out is a trip to Selhurst Park on Sunday, May 24. Crystal Palace’s record against Arsenal has not been great in recent years, with the Eagles winning just one of the last 10 meetings between the two sides in all competitions.
Man City’s run-in is much more difficult
While nothing is guaranteed in football, Arsenal fans can take solace in knowing that Man City’s remaining games are more difficult based on the table position of their opponents. Most of their games are against teams who are hoping to qualify for European competitions, as well as a few clubs who have caused them problems in recent years.
Everton’s record against Pep Guardiola’s team has been diabolical, with the Toffees’ last win against City coming in January 2017. But David Moyes has got his side among the pack of teams chasing European football, making them a more dangerous prospect than they have been in recent years.
It’s a similar story when it comes to Brentford, who City will play on Saturday, May 9. Sitting just ahead of Everton in the table, the Bees caused issues for City when the two sides met in the reverse fixture in October 2025.
What might hurt City is fixture congestion, as matches against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have both been postponed after they reached the FA Cup final. It could be a frantic end to the season for Guardiola’s team, which might allow for more mistakes to creep in. Better yet for Arsenal fans, City has a poor record against Palace, with three draws and two losses in the last 10 meetings. If the Eagles take points off City and lose to Arsenal, the title race could well be decided by Oliver Glasner’s men.
Concluding City’s season is a home tie on Sunday, May 24 against Aston Villa, who beat City 1-0 earlier in the season. Unai Emery’s side has the potential to put a huge dent in Guardiola’s title hopes and will be motivated to do so as they chase Champions League qualification.
