Arsenal have made contact with Declan Rice’s camp over a contract extension, with renewal talks now underway to make the midfielder one of the club’s top earners.

Sami Mokbel reports for the BBC that Arsenal have approached Declan Rice over a new contract, with the Gunners looking to offer a pay increase that would make the player one of the club’s top earners.
Renewal talks are reportedly now underway, with Rice already earning £240,000 a week at Arsenal.
Yet Mokbel adds that the negotiations are still at an early stage, and there’s no timeline on when they might conclude. This is just the start of the process.

Rice currently has a contract until 2028, but even after that Arsenal will have an option to extend to 2029, so he’s nowhere near close to the expiry of his deal.
Yet after a few years in north London and the Gunners positive progress with Rice in a starting role, it only makes sense that they’ll be looking to keep this partnership going for even loonger.
Rice has been a key member of the team again this season, scoring four goals and assisting 11 in his 41 appearances from midfield. The 27-year-old is as important at the back as going forward, regularly helping out his centre-backs with excellent recovery runs.

Though there’s no rush to get Rice tied down to a new deal, Arsenal fans would surely be delighted by any progress towards keeping the England international around.
