Injury update as Arsenal star withdraws with hip problem

Leandro Trossard will stay in London during the international break, with Arsenal and Belgium agreeing that his recovery from a hip problem is the priority.

He was one of several players to pull out of international duty before this window, joining Ebere Eze (calf), Martin Odegaard (knee), William Saliba (ankle) and Gabriel (knee) on the list of notable absentees.

In Leandro Trossard’s case, the situation has been handled jointly by national association and club. While it is being framed as a withdrawal in the media, in consultation with Arsenal, it was decided not to call him up so that he can continue rehabilitation in London.

That agreement keeps him at London Colney, working under the supervision of Arsenal’s medical staff rather than travelling with his country.

Trossard is suffering from a hip injury and it is not clear at this point if it is a new injury or the problem that has been giving him issues recently, nor is there any indication at the time of writing of how long he is likely to be sidelined.

Until further updates are provided, the only certainty is that Trossard will sit out this international window and focus on his recovery with Arsenal.
