5 out, 2 doubts: Bayer Leverkusen injury update pre-Arsenal

Five Bayer Leverkusen players will miss Arsenal’s visit on Wednesday, with two others named as doubts for the Champions League clash.

Bayer Leverkusen will be without a number of players for the Champions League last-16 first leg against Arsenal on Wednesday, with Arthur, Loic Bade, Lucas Vazquez, Mark Flekken, and Eliesse Ben Seghir all ruled out of the match.

Ben Seghir should be back for the second leg, as he’s been targeting a return against Bayern Munich this weekend, but the others are all doubts for both legs.

On top of those five, Patrick Schick and Gunners academy product Nathan Tella are also doubts to face Arsenal.

Schick has a minor muscular injury and Tella is closing in on a comeback, with no confirmation either way on whether they’ll be available in midweek.

Most of these injuries aren’t particularly new. Ben Seghir, Tella, Flekken, Bade, and Vazquez have all been out since at least last month, if not longer.

The only fresh concerns are Schick’s muscular problems and Arthur’s ligament tear, with both players missing just two games so far. So head coach Kasper Hjulmand has had plenty of time to prepare and adjust for their absences.
