Kai Havertz injury blow for Arsenal

Arsenal have been dealt another untimely injury setback, with Kai Havertz set for a spell out just as the fixture list intensifies and a defining run of games approaches.

Kai Havertz has suffered another injury setback, with David Ornstein reporting that the forward has picked up a muscular problem and is expected to face around a month on the sidelines. This sort of injury is quite common in players returning after lengthy spells out.

The Germany international is now set to miss the north London derby on February 22 in what represents a significant blow during a pivotal stretch of the season, especially given how he has seemingly helped unlock Viktor Gyokeres‘ goal-scoring form.

Havertz only returned from injury last month after missing most of 2025 and has played in the last four matches, with two goals and two assists to his name.

The 26-year-old has endured a difficult year physically. He tore the hamstring in his right leg during a training camp in Dubai in February 2025 and required surgery, returning just before the end of the 2024-25 campaign. He then missed a further five months with a knee issue sustained in August. He has played just 253 minutes this season.

This latest muscular problem is not currently believed to be as serious and he should be back in March.

Arsenal are also without Mikel Merino, who is believed to be out for the season after surgery on a stress fracture in his foot. Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka are also both out, but should be back soon, with Max Dowman also expected back in the squad before the end of this month.

Arsenal face Brentford, Wigan and Wolves before Spurs on 22 February and Chelsea on 1 March.
