Anthony Gordon has called the transfer speculation surrounding him “a load of rubbish”, amid recent links with a move to Arsenal.

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has often been linked with Arsenal in the past, with those links persisting through to 2026.
The Gunners aren’t the only club with a reported interest in the 24-year-old, but the player has claimed this week that it’s all nonsense.
“It’s the same old, same old,” Gordon said. “I haven’t heard anything, they might want to tell me before they tell you (the media). I have gone through enough transfer stuff now to know that it is all a load of rubbish.
“I am focused on me and focused on the team, I am focused on right now. You look too far in the future and you start to underperform. And believe me I have done that (before) and I am not going to do that now.”

Gordon has been in the headlines this week after a four-goal performance against Qarabag, bringing him to 14 goals and five assists for the season.
The vast majority of those contributions have come in the Champions League, with the Newcastle man scoring 10 and assisting two in his nine European appearances. In the Premier League, he only has five goals and assists in 20 games.
Even so, the interest from top clubs has always seemed to be genuine. The reliable David Ornstein has repeatedly mentioned Arsenal’s admiration for Gordon, even if it hasn’t developed to the stage where Gordon himself might have been contacted by the club.

As so often with transfer stories, it’s likely only in hindsight that we’ll know whether or not Arsenal and others have a genuine interest in prying Gordon away from his current club. For now, it seems the player isn’t aware of anything in the works.
