Arsenal will target Anthony Gordon this summer, and they hope to sign him for a free in the region of £75m, according to a report.

Charlie Wyett reports for The S*n that Arsenal will target the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United this summer, with the Gunners leading the race ahead of Liverpool and Manchester United and believing that Gordon would be happy to move down south to London.
Wyett adds that Mikel Arteta is a long-term admirer of Gordon from his spell at Everton, and Newcastle will demand £95m for the player.
But the report goes on to say that Arsenal will realistically end up paying more like £75-80m.

Just last week, Gordon played down the transfer speculation surrounding him as “a load of rubbish”.
“It’s the same old, same old,” Gordon said. “I haven’t heard anything, they might want to tell me before they tell you (the media). I have gone through enough transfer stuff now to know that it is all a load of rubbish.
“I am focused on me and focused on the team, I am focused on right now. You look too far in the future and you start to underperform. And believe me I have done that (before) and I am not going to do that now.”

But in response to those quotes, Wyett claims it is understood Gordon could move this summer if Newcastle receive the right offer.
The journalist claims the winger will have two years left on his contract this summer, though there aren’t many other reliable reports to corroborate a 2028 expiry. Gordon last extended his deal in 2024.
Gordon has 14 goals and five assists this season, but the overwhelming majority of those goal contributions have come in the Champions League.
His 10 goals and two assists in Europe are an excellent return, but his three goals and two assists in the Premier League (from more than twice the appearances) aren’t so impressive by comparison.
It’s up to Arsenal to decide whether the 25-year-old could step things up in the league in Arteta’s team.
