Will Arsenal sign anyone in January?

We are now more than halfway through the January transfer window, so will Arsenal be buying anyone?

As much as we all love shiny new signings and although Arsenal continue to monitor the defensive market during this window, there is little to no gossip, including in the foreign press, pointing towards an signing arriving this month.

Arsenal believe their squad already has the depth needed to win the Premier League title, but are reportedly still keeping an eye on the market for potential defensive additions.

Any decision to move for a defender depends on whether more injuries occur before the deadline, or whether the current absentees remain out for longer than expected.

At present, Arsenal are only missing Piero Hincapie (groin) and Riccardo Calariori (muscular) from the back line.

The expectation remains that Arsenal’s defenders will all have returned by the end of January, with Max Dowman the only player ruled out beyond that point.

There is, however, little clarity on when Calafiori could return after missing the last couple of games. The nature of his muscular injury, or where it is, has not been revealed.

The fact Myles Lewis-Skelly is the only Arsenal defender not to suffer an injury this season leaves the club with a clear reason to stay alert in the market, even if it does not look like that will translate into action.
