Charles Sagoe Jr. has confirmed he’s open to a loan move this month, but he’s just going to keep working hard at Arsenal in the meantime.

21-year-old Charles Sagoe Jr. is now into the final 18 months of his Arsenal contract, having signed a new deal in 2024 lasting until 2027.
With no clear route to first-team minutes with the Gunners, the best-case scenario for all involved might be following Ethan Nwaneri’s lead with a loan away for the second half of the campaign.
But the situation wasn’t too dissimilar last summer, and instead of securing a temporary transfer away, Sagoe Jr. remained in north London for the first half of the 2025/26 campaign.

Speaking to Charles Watts on the journalist’s YouTube channel this week, Sagoe Jr. has confirmed he’s open to a move this time around.
“I’m obviously going to speak to people to see what the best thing is for me,” Sagoe Jr. said. “I’ve had loan experiences out with Swansea [City] and Shrewsbury [Town]. There were learning curves really, and I really enjoyed my time over there.
“So I’m going to have a look and speak to people if that’s the option and the right move, and I’m just going to keep my head down in training, keep on working hard and applying myself.
“If something comes about from a loan perspective that I like, I’ll take that opportunity and explore it.”

Sagoe Jr. has largely been in good form this season, scoring five goals and assisting five in his 12 appearances for the Arsenal u21s. The winger also received a first-team call-up to the squad for the Champions League match against Slavia Prague in November, though he didn’t come off the bench.
That was the youngster’s fifth appearance in one of Mikel Arteta’s squads, having made his debut for the club in a League Cup match in 2023. But with players subsequently returning from injury, further appearances on the bench appear improbable.
