Fenerbahce have reached an agreement with Lazio to sign former Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, according to a report from France.

L’Equipe (via GFFN) report that Matteo Guendouzi is set to join Fenerbahce after the Turkish club reached an agreement with Lazio for a €30m (£26m) transfer.
Fenerbahce have reportedly also reached a partial agreement with Guendouzi on personal terms. Barring a last-minute change of heart, the former Arsenal midfielder is set to sign a long-term contract with Fenerbahce imminently.
Fabrizio Romano confirms that a verbal agreement is in place, claiming the package is actually worth €29m (£25.1m). Romano understands that Guendouzi has already agreed terms, so it’s just a matter of waiting for documents to be drafted and signed in the coming days.

L’Equipe had reported earlier this week that Fenerbahce had submitted a €27m (£23.4m) bid for Guendouzi, which hadn’t been accepted. They also claimed at least two unnamed Premier League clubs were interested and yet to bid, with Sunderland possibly one of them.
Guendouzi has a contract with Lazio lasting until 2028, so there was little pressure to sell him. But with a strong financial offer on the table, Lazio appear to have decided to cash in.

Guendouzi has made 16 appearances for Lazio this season, but there’s been no sign of his fiery temperament settling down.
The 26-year-old has just returned from his second suspension of the season, having picked up a red-card ban against AS Roma in September, then a one-game ban for five yellow cards in December.
That means Guendouzi has served suspensions in all of his seasons with Lazio so far, picking up a red-card ban in 2023/24 and a yellow-card ban for a selection of his 10 bookings in 2024/25.
