John Percy reported for The Telegraph on Monday that Edu Gaspar’s job as Nottingham Forest’s global head of football is coming under pressure, with doubts emerging over his long-term future with the club.

Problems began to emerge last year as Edu clashed with Nuno Espirito Santo, but despite Nuno’s departure Edu’s presence reportedly remains a contentious issue behind the scenes. Some sources have reportedly even put his job in question.

Edu pushed for the signings of Douglas Luiz and former Gunner Omari Hutchinson over the summer, whilst Nuno and the recruitment team wanted other players. Edu was also key in the loan signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Arsenal, which has not gone well so far.

Percy added that Edu is expected to attend Tuesday’s game against West Ham United, but his future beyond that remains uncertain.

Simon Jones reports for the Daily Mail that concern has been raised over Edu’s signings, with Forest sitting 17th in the Premier League table.

The Nottingham Post writes that this is not the season the club envisaged when Edu joined the club, and that’s not exactly hard to believe.

The team finished seventh in the Premier League and only a couple of points off the Champions League places last season, but they’re flirting with relegation now.

Forest did at least qualify for the Europa League, and their fortunes have been somewhat better in Europe. They sit 11th in the table after six games, in line to make the knockout stage play-off round.

But assuming they don’t go all the way and win the competition, there’s only so much a European run can make up for tanking your season domestically.
