The Mail on Sunday report that Chelsea have already opened discussions for the 20-year-old but Rennes want more than £50 million, with the French club hoping to command a record fee amid interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

The report added Jacquet has indicated he would like to join Chelsea and that the Premier League club have brought talks forward to January amid concerns their rivals would be in stronger positions to buy in the summer.

Dimanche Ouest France also report similar, saying that Chelsea have decided to go on the attack for Jacquet, with the player “eager to join the Blues” and a long-term contract discussed, although Rennes were not planning to sell him this winter.

According to our information, the English club has decided to go on the attack for Jeremy Jacquet, who has long been highly appreciated by the English management, and also by the new coach Liam Rosenior, to immediately strengthen its central defense. Also closely followed by Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and others, the 20-year-old player is far from insensitive to this very pronounced interest from Chelsea, and would be eager to join the Blues. Stade Rennes knows this, and some are even already talking about an agreement on the terms of a long-term contract. Rennes was not a seller this winter for Jacquet. The joint programming was rather a big transfer to a big club next summer. The SRFC has not changed its mind, but it has been invited by the player to listen to the English, who are not lacking in means. Chelsea have established contact with Rennes, and the current 8th in the Premier League, who would like to move quickly, will have to be persuasive. Rennes would demand more than 60 million euros. Actually left to stay? The famous "irrefusable offer", according to the words of President Arnaud Pouille on Friday in our columns, could fall, while it is also a question of settling the Kader Meïté case. Al-Hilal, in particular, would be ready to also send a big offer to Rennes, but at this stage, the trend would not be for the striker to leave this winter. A possible departure of Jacquet, the leader of his defense, would in any case be a big sporting blow for Rennes, who could then replace him. Still according to our information, the Breton club has accelerated the steps with Fenerbahçe to hire Sebastian Szymanski. The 26-year-old Polish international will not be lined up today in the Turkish championship. As previously announced, the contours of the operation had been defined, with the player agreeing contractually to join Rennes, and on the financial terms of the transfer, which would revolve around 10 million euros. Discussions were underway to finalize with Fenerbahçe, and the player should arrive at the Rennes Stadium. Szymanski, 50 caps with Poland, fits the creative offensive profile desired by coach Habib Beye, who wishes his arrival.

The report adds Rennes would demand more than €60 million but that an “irrefusable offer”, in the words of chairman Arnaud Pouille, could yet change that stance.

It was reported in December that Berta was holding exploratory talks ahead of the January transfer window, with The Athletic stating Arsenal continued to follow Jacquet, who has a contract until 2029.
