Arsenal don’t want Christian Norgaard to leave the club this month, despite reports in the Dutch media linking him with interest from Ajax.

Earlier this week, Mike Verweij reported for Dutch outlet De Telegraaf that Eredivisie side Ajax were seriously considering a move for Arsenal summer signing Christian Norgaard.
Ajax are already in talks with Arsenal over Oleksandr Zinchenko, but the plan is evidently not to use the Ukraine international in midfield, as Verweij claims that even after adding Zinchenko the club will still want a new, experienced midfielder.
Given Norgaard’s limited minutes so far this season, perhaps there’s a suggestion Arsenal might be willing to part ways already, just six months after signing the Brentford man.

Yet Sky Sports aren’t so sure, with Dharmesh Sheth reporting that though Ajax are looking at Norgaard’s situation, Sky’s understanding is that there’s no current appetite for Arsenal to allow the 31-year-old to leave.
Norgaard has played 11 times so far in 2025/26, making six starts in all competitions. Though that doesn’t include any Premier League appearances, with the midfielder only coming off the bench three times in league matches.
The midfielder’s early injury certainly didn’t help, as his pre-season preparations were followed by a month on the sidelines. But it’s also simply the case that Martin Zubimendi has been too important to rotate out on a regular basis.

With the World Cup coming up this summer and Denmark still in with a chance to qualify in March, Norgaard would ideally have wanted to be playing a little more regularly. But Arsenal still need him as an alternative to Zubimendi, so it’s going to be a tough deal for Ajax to do this month.
