The Premier League have officially confirmed their match official appointments for matchweek 21, which includes Arsenal’s game against Liverpool on Thursday night.

Anthony Taylor is set to referee the match, assisted by Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn. Simon Hooper will be the fourth official.

John Brooks will be on VAR, with Dan Robathan acting as his assistant at Stockley Park.

Taylor often gets Arsenal’s big games, with seven of his last 10 Arsenal games involving big-six opponents. Of those seven games, the Gunners won two and drew five.

Taylor is often an unpopular figure among Arsenal supporters, but he did give a red card to the Gunners’ opponents Chelsea back in November. Though it’s worth mentioning it was only upon VAR review.

The referee initially awarded just a yellow card to Moises Caicedo, and Gunners supporters were unhappy with how the referee subsequently allowed 10-man Chelsea to run down the clock whilst adding on minimal additional time.

Arsenal ended the game with six yellow cards to Chelsea’s one, so the red card wasn’t indicative of how the referee generally punished the two teams.

Arsenal have played Liverpool with Taylor as the referee on five previous occasions, winning twice, drawing twice, and losing once. The two most recent examples were both 2-2 draws.
