The 19-year-old ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament during England’s 3-0 friendly win over Australia on October 28, bringing an abrupt halt to her second spell with Brighton this season. She scored once in eight appearances after returning to the club in the summer transfer window, following a successful loan last term.

Brighton confirmed that Agyemang has returned permanently to the Gunners to continue her rehabilitation, with women’s first-team head coach Dario Vidosic saying, “It was a real privilege to welcome Michelle back in the summer and work with her for another season. Naturally, we’re disappointed that her second loan spell with the club has come to an end, but her rehab and mental wellbeing must remain the priority.

“For someone so young, her talent on the pitch and her strength of character off it are truly remarkable. She has been a leader within our squad, and we’re confident she’ll be back on the pitch very soon.

“Michelle has the full support of everyone at Brighton during her recovery, and she will always have a place here at the club.”

Zoe Johnson, Brighton’s managing director of women’s and girls’ football, added, “We were delighted to welcome Michelle back to the club in the summer. She is an incredible young talent on the pitch and her character off the grass was a big asset to our dressing room.

“We’re sad to see her go prematurely, but her physical health and welfare must take precedence.

“We’ll continue to keep in contact with Arsenal and support Michelle and her family during her recovery. Everyone at Brighton is behind her during this journey.”

Agyemang has registered three goals in seven international caps and helped England to glory at Euro 2025 last summer by claiming crucial equalisers in the quarterfinals and semi-finals, before her injury ended her season in October.
